How Gaj to Bigha Conversion Works
Converting Gaj to Bigha is different from converting fixed international units because Bigha changes by region. The calculator asks for the applicable region and then uses that regional reference value.
Bigha = Gaj × 9 ÷ selected regional Bigha area in square feet
Here, 9 converts square yards/Gaj into square feet.
Example
Suppose the selected region uses 27,225 sq ft per Bigha. Then 3,025 Gaj × 9 = 27,225 sq ft, so the result is 1 Bigha. In a region using 21,780 sq ft per Bigha, 2,420 Gaj represents 1 Bigha.
Important property-measurement note
Do not compare a quoted Bigha price or land size between two regions without checking the definition first. Two properties described as "1 Bigha" can have different physical areas. Always check the unit convention in the deed, revenue record, or official measurement used for the specific property.
